Scott Hallila MA, NCC, LPC-S
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of Holy Cross in 2008. Then, I continued my education at the University of Holy Cross earning a Master’s degree in both School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2012. My first counseling experience after college was on the Navy base in Belle Chasse, Louisiana working with military dependent children and adolescents within the school setting. In 2014, I moved to the St. Tammany area to begin working with the St. Tammany Parish School system and to grow my private practice. My private practice is centrally located in Mandeville, but Hallila Counseling & Consulting serves clients from many surrounding areas.
I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor focusing on adolescent counseling, anxiety, and depression. I do offer a unique perspective and aim at maximizing each client’s potential for academic, personal, and social growth. I am mostly known for my work with the adolescent population, but I also have experience with adult survivors of sexual abuse/trauma. In addition, I have presented workshops at the University of Holy Cross and the Louisiana Counseling Association’s annual conference on the following topics: ADHD, creative strategies in school counseling, counseling military children, motivation, building self confidence, and creating a professional identity.
My approach to counseling is to focus on solutions and help guide my client in the direction they want to go. I also operate from a Christian worldview having many clients that seek a faith based perspective. As my client, you will choose the path and I will shine the light. I have a more direct and challenging perspective, but also tailor my approach to each client’s needs. The client/counselor relationship is of utmost importance and sets the foundation that is needed in order to see any sign of progress. Therapy does not have to be difficult or scary. You should feel comfortable within the first 5-10 minutes of the first session. Let’s have a conversation and see where it takes you.
